Deputy Minister of Defence of BiH at the Meeting « Understanding the Benefits of Involving Women in Security « in Vienna – the Republic of Austria

The Deputy Minister of Defence of BiH, Mrs Marina Pendes, participated in the special meeting, called « Understanding the Benefits of Involving Women in Security «, which was organised by OSCE, on June 7th 2010 in Vienna – the Republic of Austria.

The officials, ambassadors and diplomats from 56 OSCE member states and several countries – international partners of OSCE.

Some of the issues discussed at the meeting were which advantages at the international level can be made of women involvement in conflict prevention, crisis management, combat against terrorism, peace keeping and other safety issues, as well as what can be learned from women involvement in conflict prevention and its management. They also discussed security establishment and its maintenance, for example, in a case of situation in Balkans or Afghanistan.

 

The Deputy Minister of Defence of BiH, Mrs Marina Pendes, talked about which approach women have to security establishment, in which way the security and peace can be preserved, as well as which various strategies women have used in order to establish the secure environment.

Besides the Deputy Minister of Defence of BiH, Mrs Marina Pendes, at the special meeting of the Committee for Safety in Vienna, Brigadier General Jan Peter Spijk from NATO and Mrs Ursula Plassnik, special representative for International Women's Issues of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs also addressed the audience.
