Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of BiH in Brussels at the Meeting of NATO and Ministers of Defence of Non-NATO Countries Participated in ISAF Mission in Afghanistan
Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, headed by the Minister of Defence of BiH, dr Selmo Cikotic, attended the meeting of Ministers of Defence of non-NATO countries, participated in ISAF mission in Afghanistan, which took place in NATO Headquarters in Brussels, on June 11th 2010.
Forty-six countries, which participated in ISAF mission in Afghanistan on ministerial level, participated together with NATO staff, ISAF staff and with staff of other institutions and organisations, which have been present in Afghanistan.

The meeting was focused on two main issues – transition and training mission. Transition is defined as an extension, with clearly defined priorities ( harmonised with road map ), but not as a completion of ISAF mission.
The transition means a transfer of authority from international representatives to Afghan representatives, on all governmental levels ( central and provincial), from the army to the police.
The mission of training has been recognized as an irreplaceable instrument of transition.
It is necessary the afghan structures to be adequately trained, in order they could be ready to take over the leadership, so that the need for trained instructors, who will hasten the process of transition, has been increasingly emphasised.
