Second Seminar on Strategic Political-Military Issues

Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with Department for Cooperation of OSCE mission in B&H, General Staff of AF of Germany and NATO Advisory Team, organize 5 days Seminar on Strategic Political-Military Issues, for Generals core of AF of B&H, and high officials of state institutions of B&H.

Seminar started on October 12th and will last up to Friday October 15th 2009, when closing ceremony should be held with review of work results. During that closing ceremony information about present process of planning and preparing for PSO, and some final discussions will be given, also Seminar was officially opened by Selmo Cikotic. PhD, Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Ambassador Gary Robbins, chief of OSCE mission in B&H and Colonel Heinz Joachim, head of team in Command and General Staff college of AF of FR Germany.

Aim of this Seminar is to inform attendants with process of decision making in relevant NATO bodies for implementation of PSO, and that in accordance with legal regulations in B&H “play” procedures of decision making on Political-Strategic and Operative level in participation of B&H in NATO lead PSO.

During opening ceremony, Minister Cikotic emphasize that “This Seminar have specific significance because B&H is at the moment in stage in which have 2 groups of officers in ISAF mission, and two units of AF of B&H are in stage of preparation, and decision about sending those units to Afghanistan is yet to be made, and regarding that this Seminar is timely”.

On the press conference in occasion of this Seminar Minister Cikotic also stated that B&H is dedicated to European and Euro-Atlantic integrations, and that to become full fledge NATO member B&H have to demonstrate its readiness to share risks and difficulties of PSO, but also and other mechanisms of collective security, what is basically essence of NATO.

Minister Cikotic stated that: “Full membership in NATO, mean wide spectrum of positive effects: from stability in country, to more opened market and better preconditions for economy development”
